Please Review Our Revised End-User Support Policies (USA Only)

AkzoNobel recently sent out notification of updates to the 2024 Distributor Manual. These updates were specific to AkzoNobel’s policies on providing end-user support to existing AkzoNobel customers that change their servicing AkzoNobel distributor. AkzoNobel does not support distributor changes without justification.

Please ensure your awareness and understanding of the policies below. If you have any questions on these guidelines, please contact your District Sales Leader.

AkzoNobel, in its sole judgment, chooses not to provide rebates, discount assistance, prebates, installation support or any other incentive to a new customer of an authorized Distributor where that new customer was previously the customer of another AkzoNobel authorized distributor*.

Recognizing that the end-user customer has the final choice of Distributor, the following rules will apply in the event of a distribution change:

  1. No rebates or discounts will be provided to any Distributor that chooses to sell to an existing AkzoNobel customer for a minimum of 12 months after the contract effective date of the end user electing to buy from another authorized AkzoNobel Distributor.
  2. Any necessary equipment upgrades (like scales, AMV or mixing machines) will be the financial responsibility of the new distributor during this time.
  3. After the initial 12-month period, AkzoNobel will consider offering support based on standard discount guidelines, matching the levels the customer was purchasing before the distributor change.

Participation may only be considered where AkzoNobel, in its sole judgment, (i) believes the original AkzoNobel authorized distributor was no longer able to satisfy the needs and service requirements of the customer in question and (ii) must be approved by the existing AkzoNobel Business Director.

In these cases, notification must be provided to the AkzoNobel District Sales Leader (DSL) and/or Key Account Manager (KAM) and Regional Sales Leader by the end-user. AkzoNobel will immediately notify the end-user’s current Distributor, meet to discuss the Distributor’s performance and jointly develop a 30-day improvement plan that will be shared with the end-user. If the Distributor’s performance is still deemed as unsatisfactory to the end-user, the end-user will have the right to select another AkzoNobel authorized Distributor via written request. This request is subject to approval by the Business Director.

*AkzoNobel will use end-user’s discretion on distribution changes for any direct and indirect national MSO Agreements.
